Audre Lorde...where are you to explain my heart?
I did vote for Obama and I was thrilled to see him win. We gave money towards his campaign as did we McCain before this election.

However, the night was bittersweet. Proposition 8 passed in California.

Images of either Christ looking like Rambo or Eddie Lizard.

I have got to figure out what the hell she is referring too and I do not want to bring it up with her. It is bad enough I have to work out there.

    Doggie!
Miss. Guinevere. My son picked her out...she has a spot on her lungs (heart worm scar tissue) she was arthritis and looks like she was just used as a breeder dog and let go. She was found in a bad condition, starved and has markings like she was left outside on concrete since her belly and elbows are black callouses. Her teeth are worn down from chewing on a chain or rocks.

My son picked her out, we tried to sway him, because of her age (8) and health issues....but he said "Everyone needs a home".

She is a gentle spirit and follows me around the house, she is housebroken, she ignores the kitty, she is the easiest dog to walk and makes an awesome companion. She is kind to kids....what more can I ask for? I would say that if there is anything to fix depression get a dog...I find myself smiling way more than not.

    Check my sweetie out!

    Surgery is scheduled!
I think he will be there the 16th surgery on the 18th....in Sharp Memorial Hospital, he stays in the hospital until the 27th. Flies out... comes back here and is admitted into St.Joseph's for the skin flap (the ortho suggested this since the skin flap is more likely to fail and we need a person here to monitor it...they are taking out a muscle from his back and skin from his thigh)He should then be released Feb 4th after all that. recovery for 8-12 weeks from the date of Jan 18th, then he flies out again. He won't be able to bend the leg so this should be interesting to say the least.

I will not be able to go out with him at this point. we are dealing with a lot of pre op things that have to be dealt with. The stress at times is a bit overwhelming...but oh well.

We are still dealing with insurance and stating it is a medical necessity to go out of state for a out of network doctor. Wheeeeeee

In other news,I found out I royally suck at "Ants in the Pants" game...royally. So bad, put so far I haven't put any living creatures eye out in my house. Too bad there are no cheat codes for that game.

    What is talent?
Talent is watching Americans Funniest videos....Laughing at people while lying on the couch and taking a sip of lemon flavored bottle water and missing my mouth and pouring into my nose.

I have that zingy fresh nostril feeling.

btw...that scene in Airplane where the guy misses him mouth and says...I have a drinking problem...well I live that scene over and over..

And yes...this is only one of the reasons I wear black...if I were more brave I would wear white and eat mustard...but I am a gal who learns from those mistakes.

First week of school moment and my son is against corpses
I picked up David and asked about his day....he told me that he made a robot from cut out paper and it had A HUGE FLAMING PENIS...his teachers said "Um are you sure it is not a tongue?" and he said "Noooooo, everyone knows robots have HUGE FLAMING Penises"

I said...oh so what happened to the picture and he said it was hung up on the wall.

We got it back a few days later and you can see that the huge flaming penis was ripped off and you can see the old remnants of glue.

We have it hung up though...nice.

    Only my son....only my son.

Also and this goes out to the scooby doo fans and Haley....David came up to me yesterday and he said while pounding his fist on his hand like a mini politician. Do you know what I cannot stand in this world? When you go into a cave and see skeletons, ghosts and decomposing bones" (because this happens all the time..I guess...I think it is directly from Scooby Doo)

I said, well Son, you have a good solid platform since I think many people will agree with you on that. Good for you for drawing the line somewhere.

The best part...it was a very serious conversation.

    My son, the capitalist
Today was the last day of school for David. He went to an incredible school, that was a renovated cool 1960's house on 5 acres. It was not only his last day, but the school as well. They had operated for 25 years and were incredible. My son got to go there because of Heather's investigation and Susan's mom.

The developer parked bulldozers near it and David was afraid they were going to bulldoze it while they were in school.

When I told him they would not do that we began the following discussion that ended up funny.

We discussed how the animal's homes and his school were going to be taken away for development. That this land was many things before mini-malls, gas stations and Kroger's. Then he asked what would be built there and I said a "Super Target" and I can only describe it as a war-cry elation response..."A SUPER TARGET!!!! NO WAY!!!! WHEN????"

Damnit, I had him at the bunny families. I am raising Alex Keaton.(Family Ties....c'mon I am not that dated)

    Heather RULES
She watched David and we had a real bonified date. Poor thing, I couldn't leave her house because I didn't know how too...lol. I was like "How does this work? I am going to leave David and go to dinner with my husband?"

It was soooooo nice!!! We owe you! David had a blast too!

Just wanted to shout out to Sandi if you are out there somewhere. I am going to miss you very much. I am so terribly sorry about what happened and the choice you had to make because of a few horrible and spineless women on LJ.

I cannot believe how lowdown and evil women can be to each other. It is probably the biggest reason why we don't achieve more in society. We are the worst enemies to ourselves and our sisters.

    I love you lady.

    Stolen shameless from Susan

What American accent do you have?
    Created by Xavier on Memegen.net

Midland. The Midland (please don't confuse with "Midwest") itself is the neutral zone between the North and South. But just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from there. Since it is considered a neutral, default, "non-regional" accent you could easily be from someplace without its own accent, like Florida, or a big city in the South like Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta.

Take this quiz now - it's easy!
We're going to start with "cot" and "caught." When you say those words do they sound the same or different?

    Take the Gender/Race Test.
An Internet friend was in the crowd at an Oprah show during a race discussion.

    http://www.understandingprejudice.org/iat/racframe.htm

    I tested this for race
Your data suggest a slight automatic preference for African American compared to European American.

The table below shows the percentage of other online test takers receiving various test results, so you can compare yourself with other people. Your results have been corrected for the order in which you performed the dual category associations.

Test Result % of Test Takers
Strong automatic preference for White people 48%
Moderate automatic preference for White people 13%
Slight automatic preference for White people 12%
Little or no automatic preference 12%
Slight automatic preference for Black people 6%
Moderate automatic preference for Black people 4%
Strong automatic preference for Black people 6%

    As for Gender...

Your data suggest little or no association between Male and Female with CAREER and FAMILY.

An IAT result suggests an association between "male and career" when responses are faster to the dual category "male pronouns and career-related words" (and "female pronouns and family-related words") than to the reverse. Results suggest an association between "female and career" when responses are faster to the dual category "female pronouns and career-related words" (and "male pronouns and family-related words") than to the reverse. Associations may be described as "slight," "moderate," "strong," or "little or no preference."

The table below shows the percentage of other online test takers receiving various test results, so you can compare yourself with other people. Your results have been corrected for the order in which you performed the dual category associations.

Test Result % of Test Takers
Strong association between male and career 40%
Moderate association between male and career 15%
Slight association between male and career 12%
Little or no gender association with career or family 17%
Slight association between female and career 6%
Moderate association between female and career 5%
Strong association between female and career 5%

    Update...
Kudos to my child who was pretty darn good for 6 hours at the hospital. Relatively speaking.

Dave made it out okay. It is a totally different hospital...nop notch in everything from communication from care. We were greeted for goodness sake and given a pager for when he was out of surgery...when that didn't work...they actually came down to get me. (no losing or knowing where he was at this hospital)

It seems well staffed there too, we were greeted by many doctors and nurses and it was just amazing. There was just a level of stress at the other one.

I spoke to the doctor..he got everything out and he said there was a excess of fluid in the knee, which could mean the bone is infected there, but honestly after the 6 weeks of antibiotics they have to take him off and see what is going to happen there. It is unfortunate because the knee was not where the broken bones were and now something has gotten it.

He did a sample of the fluid but said there was really no change of it growing anything in the petri dish since he was on cubicin. One dose will affect results for 3 weeks. Too bad I didn't get one when I asked for it at the other God forsaken hospital....before he was put on it.

We do not have a wound vac though, the hospital won't let us take it home, and told us we have to wait until Monday for a nurse to bring one...which I am not too happy about since they are releasing him today.

I told the doctor I was going to steal it and we laughed and I said I am serious...I was like you and your wife are going to watch Fox news and you are going to be like "Heeeeey that is Suzanne Giaimo" and then we did our best cop impressions of "Maam, step away from the wound vac" lol.

The leg is in shrink wrap of sorts with a small vaccuum that sucks fluid and such from it. It is looking like he will be on it for 2-3 months (per doctor's orders)...however it will help with granulation of tissue and will cut healing time significantly.

Breaking news...I think that my threat of stealing the wound vac, just got me one today and now Blue Cross is denying it since they didn't get there 48 hour notice...well boo hoo on them.

Dave's BIL told me the best advice...."Tell them to do it anyway and that you will fight with insurance later"....amazing those magical words gets you the damn care you need.

Sigh, it is not the mountains we have traveled but the sand in our sandles that wear us down.

The ambulance people are harrassing us too and have the funniest attitude!!!! They called me and said that I needed to write a number down and I said oh I can talk to you all I am his wife and she said nastily....that I was not authorized and I said "Well, then guess what I am not authorized to take you number down either. Thanks! and hung up.

She was being nasty...and guess what I don't care...amazing when you have bills up to your eyes...it just does not matter...CARE FIRST!!! Bills later.

It is a pretty big setback though...that is an understatement. All in all, I am content at this hurdle at this point, but also have to let the rest of it sink in.

Fueled by prayers from your ladies...how could I not face today?

Hugs and kissses to all the children, women and loved ones.

    Good Lord people.

All last night David was crying about how his ear hurt, I got no sleep nor did he but the doctor's office was closed and I had to see Dave and I thought maybe it could hold off...but it did not.

I saw him, got his room tidied up and came home to take David to Emergency child care where he threw up fabulously upon entering their facilites( we know hoe to make an entrance where ever we go)....not to be daunted I caught it in a bowl I brought...right in the middle of the damned place...we did not spill a drop.

    3 hour waiting period...

I know what you are thinking...I have a glamorous life.

He has a double ear infection and the friggen flu. He is trying so hard, people to be a good

bright spot of our day...my husband's favorite comedian actually called his hospital room ( I just asked for a email responce I could print up)

Doug Stanhope called him. I answered the phone and said "Hello" and asked who it was. He said "Doug Standhope"

I said "What?...no F-ing way you are kidding me...because I am a petite flower...and he said "Lady, the last thing you need is to have someone f'ing around with you...no joke this is Doug Standhope" I gave Dave the phone and they talked. Doug joked around with him while I was crying in a corner overwhlemed...he promised if he was in town that they will go out for beers and to heal the f**** up.

Tomorrow...lots of things to accomplish! I think I need a cape or a wand and maybe a prescription for depression meds.

I am so sorry I didn't get to respond...God gave me a smackdown on my computer.

    Play nice, yall.
So, I took David out on his new trike to the park. We get there are there are 3 kids yelling and speaking in whinese. They range from 7-5...they were rotten. ROTTEN spoiled horrid children. There mother/Aunt was sitting there saying "Be nice", she was fashionably sitting on her tush decked out in designer gear.

David runs up and says excitedly "Hey, look at my new motorcycle"

The boy says "That is a tricycle stupid"

The girls pipe up "Yeah, Stupid"

I wait for the Mom to say something....she says "Play nice"

I try to get David to play away from them, but like a bug to a light he runs back to the evil children and pulls out a toy "Hey, look what I have!!" (a fake worm) and the boy says "We don't care what you have" Then the little girl says "Why don't you just leave us alone" We don't care what you have, stupid" She looks at her Mom..."He is stupid"

The Mom says "Play nice, now"

That was it! I looked at those brats and said "You don't talk to my son that way...got it!" and at this point David is sad and hiding in a tunnel and I say "Come here, David" and he won't. I say c'mon David let's go and find some nice kids to play with...

I get David and say let's go and look at the Mom and say "Have a nice day" and smiled at her. The little girl yelled "Yeah, get out of here, tomato head" to my son. I just turned around and glared at them. I did not say a word. They stopped playing and looked at me. Every ounce of me said "SHUT UP" I was so angry..but I did not say a word.

We walked away and the kids turned on each other and I hear..c'mon..play nice.

I would have been mortified if those were my children and they would have apologized...and gone home and been punished...the c'mon play nice was just pathetic lazy parenting. It literally made me sick to my stomach.

Who lets their kids be mean??? Why is it acceptable to let your child call other children names??? It just galls me to no end. I mean every kid has a bad day, but these kids didn't have a nice bone in them...and the play nice yall didn't cut it.

David has it in for Santa
My husband wouldn't think he would notice...but he did.

We bought each other only memberships for the YMCA..we went over budget and we did not get anything from Santa, we didn't fill our stockings like we used to.

When I put my son to bed, he asked me why Santa didn't bring me anything and I said "Well, I don't know he just didn't"(I was tired and didn't have the perfect answer at hand)

David said, "...but I don't understand..you were a good girl all year long" and then he said lower your head and he he started whispering.."You took me trick or treating...you took me to the park, you share, you make me Christmas cookies...you are a a good girl mommy, Santa will bring you something next year...I just know it"

I gave him a huge hug and then said what I should have said all along.."Thank you David, but Santa brings toys for children not big people."

He looked at me and sighed and said..."Well, you are still a good girl"

    lol.

Santa better pony up next year...or David is going to take him to task
